Pendidikan Islam sebagai Strategi Kaderisasi dalam Sarekat Islam: Perspektif Pemikiran H.O.S. Tjokroaminoto

Abstract

During the Dutch colonial period, limited access to education for indigenous communities hindered the development of national consciousness. Previous studies on H.O.S. Tjokroaminoto have primarily focused on Islamic nationalism, leadership, and socio-political movements, while limited attention has been given to Islamic education as a strategy for cadre development within Sarekat Islam. This study aims to analyze the concept of Islamic education in H.O.S. Tjokroaminoto’s thought and its role in cadre development and nation-building. This research employed a qualitative library research method with a historical-conceptual approach. Data were collected from Tjokroaminoto’s works, books, journal articles, and historical documents. The findings indicate that Islamic education functioned as an instrument for ideological formation, leadership development, and social transformation through a cadre development system integrating Islamic values, nationalism, and organizational praxis. These findings highlight the relevance of Tjokroaminoto’s educational thought for developing transformative Islamic education in contemporary Indonesia.
